Monroe Cousins & Aunt Kelly Come to Visit

Charlotte and Julia's Aunt Kelly and her kids came to visit Delaney for the first time. Delaney LOVED meeting her cousins and Aunt Kelly. It was so cute seeing the kids hold her...they were very sweet with her. They even brought her two new outfits and some teething keys! Peanut wanted to say "Thank you so much Morgan, Steven, Adam, Erica, and Aunt Kelly!!!"

Latching issues

Since having to introduce the bottle because Peanut was not gaining weight we have had some serious latch issues. She hasn't been interested in breastfeeding because the bottle was so much easier. One of Jess' friends gave us some advice on the technique of bottle feeding ... such as how to position her, how to hold the bottle, how to make her work a little harder for the milk. Then one of my friends gave us advice on getting some different bottles to help her transition back to the breast. Well we attempted to latch Little Miss Peanut to the breast today and she took to it like a natural. She still isn't eating an entire feeding from me, but she didn't drink all of her milk in the bottle this feeding...so I'm guessing she actually did get milk from me.

Let's hope that this trend continues and she gets back on the breast.

And she's mobile!

Of course she's not yet crawling across the room or running through the kitchen...but for 19 days old this child is WAY more mobile than I thought she'd be. Did I miss something in those parenting books and child development classes? Is she supposed to be able to wiggle herself from point a to point b FIVE FEET away?! Is she supposed to be able to flip herself out of the boppy during tummy time using her legs?

Sweet baby dreams

Okay so my mom (Gramme) called today. I love it when my parents call...they both call almost every day to check up on the entire family. My brother actually called today too. Pretty sure he's fallen in love with our kids no matter how masculine and "hard" he wants to pretend he is. :) I totally love it. My mom actually went shopping today for the first time for Delaney stuff. She usually shops for the big girls...picking up neat things on her trips around the country...making sure they have something special every time she sees them...but this is the very first time she has gone and shopped for Peanut. It was so cute to hear her excited about a Christmas dress she came across or Christening socks or lots of other outfits. :) I love how much she loves ALL of our kids. I truly cannot express in to words what it meant for me and Jess to have my ENTIRE family at the birth of our daughter...what it stills means to have them so smitten by our kids. The support and love is amazing. So thank you family!

This shirt was bought while Jess and I were in LA this August for our wedding. We called our little girl Peanut from conception and thought this little t-shirt was perfect. :)

Thanks Cousin Lisa!!

So Cousin Lisa sent Delaney a gift card to spend a Target on whatever her little heart desired. :) Well Delaney wanted some nice clothes to go to church in...she also got herself some cute little mittens to keep her from scratching herself and her hands getting cold.

Another baby on the way

Well one of our "board friends" is in the hospital getting ready to have her little boy! We just wanted to post that we are thinking about J and S and their little boy!!!!!! Good luck.

We also wanted to mention D and A and their little one M that will soon enter the adventure of childbirth. I know that you (D) will be so strong and M will be absolutely perfect.

In the world of our girls...there isn't much going on today. It's a "Dad Day" for the big girls so they'll be leaving soon to go have dinner at their grandmother's house and get to hang with their dad. Delaney is just eating, sleeping, and pooping...but doing it all like a rockstar! LOL

Chucky monkey...okay maybe more like slender

So Peanut went for her 2 week appointment today. She gained 6oz, weighing in at 6lbs 12.8oz! She also grew 2 inches, measuring at 19inches long!! Her head circumference was 35cm. She is officially in the 12th percentile for weight, 10th percentile for height, and 25th percentile for head circumference.!!!!! Woohoo no more worrying about whether or not our little nugget will ever grow LOL Here is a picture just to celebrate the moment of her "heavy thoughts" day.

Snazzy for church

Today the 5 of us ventured out to church for the first time since the new year. At the end of my pregnancy I was too uncomfortable and tired to go and with the birth of Peanut I've been too tired and nervous to go. So at 16 days old she made it into the worship service for the first time. Pastor Doug introduced her to the entire congregation stating "Delaney, Daughter of Jess and Kathy, is now our youngest member" and then pointed straight at me. Holy old people! Mann after that we were completely swarmed with old people cooing at her. Oh and the crib nursery staff offered for us to leave her in the nursery next week! Oh yeah I totally think not...I"m not even sure the little one will be going back to church for a few weeks...let alone being left in the nursery! Anyway here is a picture of her in her church duds :)



In big girl news... because I'm sure some of you are wondering how they are doing. Charlotte is doing really well at school. She is making new friends and regaining some old ones. She's actually having a sleep over with two old buddies next weekend. She is improving by leaps and bounds at basketball and starting to enjoy it more each time...although she's not really digging the hard work involved in playing a sport. Julia just completed her 100th day of 1st grade...she even got to perform a nifty little 100th day song for the kindergartners. She went to a birthday party this weekend and had TONS of fun. She is excited for the spring to arrive so that soccer starts up. She was recruited to an all girls team in our area called the Pink Cheetahs. She is stoked to get started on this new adventure. Both girls are adjusting well to the new baby and both love her so very much...they actually can't stop kissing her head, wanting to hold her, wanting to feed her, and wanting to change her diapers (although we're waiting for the novelty of diapers to fade).

We have found our new normal and although it can be a bit overwhelming at times...all 5 of us are happy as can be... it's kind of cool to say that we have 5 girls living under one roof! Bring on the estrogen :)
