Watkins Mill Field Trip

We went with CKC to the Watkins Mill today. We first met up with our friends at their farm for some visiting and playing. The kids all went outside and played on the hay while the moms talked about school, kids, and needing sleep! Then we all headed out to the Mill. We learned about Mr Watkins and how yarn and wool cloth is made. It was a pretty neat place! We may try to go back this summer with our friends to go camping out there! The kids also really enjoyed playing in the leaves at the plantation house on the property.

PE- Mission Attitude Adjustment!

Here is Charlotte outside doing part of her PE the other day. This is the push ups part....there were also star jumps, running, push up jumps, jumping jacks, and crunches. Julia is doing laps inside the house of bear crawls. This was mission attitude adjustment! :) It worked out really well. Dance parties are much more fun than obstacle courses.

Peanuts and Eggs OH NO!

We just found out Delaney is allergic to peanuts and eggs! In fact I hate some sour gummy worms today (yep that's right they don't have egg or nut in them) and Delaney breastfed and then promptly broke out from head to toe. They are manufactured with products containing nuts and eggs. If ANY of you out there have any advice I"d love to hear it. Right now we really can't have (she and I...therefore we won't be having them in the house at all) cereals, crackers, dough products, nuts, nut butters, eggs, baked goods, and candies! That leaves meat (we don't really eat much meat), beans, veggies, and fruits LOL. Oh and going out to eat is a joke including ice cream. Shoot me now!

In order to deal with the stress of this I tye dyed and put Delaney in one of the outfits. I also made one for Miss Violet and Miss Avery. They will be getting them with their Christmas presents :)

Adventures at the library and with shaving cream!

Charlotte was working on a Memorization test at the library. Delaney was exploring the diaper bag while her sisters were working. Julia was checking out some videos on the Middle Ages. Then we came home and Charlotte earned a fun activity of shaving cream creations on the school table. And of course I had to add some math problems into the mix. :)

Our now middle daughter

Julia is wild and crazy as usual. She is constantly on the go and TALKING. She loves loves loves to talk about anything and everything. She has met a new friend through homeschool co-op that is also wild and crazy and loves to talk talk talk. Julia is taking a 10 week drama class through co-op this term. She LOVES it. I'm not sure how much acting they are learning but they sure are having fun which is the most important part of a class like that. She has been invited to her very first sleep over by her new friend. She's totally excited about that. Julia is also participating in a homeschool group called cool kids care (ckc). We are going swimming this friday. Two fridays a month they do some sort of community service. One Friday a month they have a fun get together (tye dying, swimming, capture the flag, etc). One Friday a month they are going on a field trip (Waxman Candle company to dip candles, a member's ranch to learn about ranch life and run around and play, etc). Both girls are involved in this activity and are VERY excited about the possibilities it brings. Juli bean also has park playdates almost every single Thursday starting next week. Julia loves math, science, and social studies. She loves reading about new places and learning continents, oceans, and landforms. She is also really excited to start in her new math book (thanks "Aunt" Shelly!!!) She is a whiz at science and if anyone out there is looking for fun academic activities to do with their kids the R.E.A.L. Science for 1-4th grade is amazing. It's the life science packet. SHe is about to learn about the circulatory system where we use Karo Syrup (plasma), red hots (red blood cells), Lima Beans (white blood cells), and Dried Lentils (platelets) to demonstrate it. Super easy and super fun. She is the most caring loving person. So excited to watch her grow.

She also chose her own poses for this blog post. :)

Our oldest daughter

Charlotte is up to some pretty amazing things these days. She is turning into such a beautiful wonderful young woman. She is filled with compassion, adventure, eagerness to learn and help, and for the first time she's excited to meet new people. She is starting her ceramics class through our homeschooling co-op on October 14th. Char is SUPER excited about this and so are we. She went to her first Harry Potter book club meeting last week. She made a wand. They also discussed the history and significance of the different parts of the book. It was pretty deep and intense even as an adult book club! She start Shakespeare Conservatory last weekend. She is so excited to get her monologue and start to learn it for her auditions in the spring. She is flying through her biology curriculum in school and will be done with all of it by Christmas...which means nothing but experiments and activities in the spring. We are so proud of her!

We had a photo op today and she got to choose her poses...typically teenage and creative! :)
