Smokin Hot!

Delaney refused to take her midday nap so I loaded her up in the stroller and went on a 3 mile walk. However I didn't realize it was 97 degrees outside!! It was hot enough to make a pig sweat!!!!! We came home after the walk and took a cold shower. Then buggy played in her jumperoo. I'd say we've had lots of exercise today.

Ahhhhhh

I strapped Delaney to me in the Ergo and I mowed the lawn. Talk about a sight to see! Then Delaney and I watered all our plants and trees outside. Once we came inside I laid her down to nap in her crib while the big girls and I cleaned up the guest bedroom since Gramme is coming in a matter of weeks! After we got done with the guest room that had become a catch all room, we pulled all food out of the kitchen cabinets and reorganized the kitchen. Charlotte cleaned up afterwards and Julia did the laundry while I fed Delaney. Then once again strapped Delaney to me and made lunch for all of us. After lunch I tried to get Delaney to settle down for another nap but she wasn't having it. Sooooo I asked Charlotte if she would "babysit" Delaney while I took a 90 minute nap. She agreed THANK GOODNESS :) It was the first time I left Delaney unattended with get biggest sister but seriously I needed a quick nap! All went well. Charlotte played with her and even got her to take an hour long nap. Julia even caught a nap during our "quiet time" today.

Potty, Musicals, Snuggling

Jess bought us the book Infant Potty Training by Laurie Boucke. I have gotten to Chapter 2. So far Delaney has not had a diaper on for about 2 hours with no accidents. They give a pretty simple technique. I like it so far.

Charlotte and I are watching Camp right now. Then we plan on watching Newsies. Then Hairspray. Then we'll find more musicals in the cabinet to pop in. We are just having so much fun chillin, singin, and talkin. Delaney is having tons of fun having her biggest sister home from school for the summer. She's snuggling her, "talking" to her, giggling, smiling, and cooing non-stop! :)

Julia's First Sleepover

Julia is a big 2nd grader now and a friend of Jess' wanted to see a show last night but couldn't find a babysitter for her two daughters....soooo we figured it would be a great opportunity to host Julia's first non-family sleepover!

Last Day of Elementary School

Charlotte's last day of elementary school was today. So emotional. It is a tradition at their school for all of the grades to line up in the hallways and give the sixth graders high fives as they leave the school for the last time.

Proposition 8 Upheld

Last August Jess and I got married in Ventura, CA. We had a small courthouse ceremony. Her mom, dad, aunt, Grandma Stewart, and Grandpa Stewart (before he passed away this year) were in attendance. I wore a white dress and Jess wore a white shirt with khaki capris. It was simple. It was "us". We had a small little reception at the beach house following the ceremony with Jess' family. August 18, 2008 will always be the day that I married my wife. I am thankful for that day. I am thankful I was ABLE to have that day. Well in November of last year voters in California voted to enact Proposition 8 banning same-sex marriages in the state. We have been waiting until today to find out if our marriage was all of a sudden made illegal with that vote too. Fortunately we are still married today. The California Supreme Court made a ruling today that Prop 8 was constitutional but the 18,000 marriages performed between June and November would remain intact. What a crock! So its constitutional for us to get married 9 months ago but now (under the same constitution) it is now illegal?! Are we supposed to be happy about this? What if all the men in Georgia got together and voted for a law making it once again illegal for women to vote? Or all the white people in Texas voting to take away an African Americans right to own land? Our civil right was just taken from us. It makes me sad and angry. Sad to know our community lost today (more than a court ruling). Angry to think some of those ppl that voted for prop 8 knew a gay person, was "friends with a gay person, or was related to a gay person. Talk about hate. Its when a friend, coworker, relative votes to take your rights away when they do know the face of gay..do have a story behind the cause...and should be the first in line FIGHTING FOR the rights of gay people!

P.S. Delaney has a temp of 102.2 an infection of some sort and on antibiotics for the first time!

First Zoo Trip of the Year

We joined Friends of the Zoo this year. It was my first trip to the Kansas City Zoo and boy is it huge and absolutely amazing!!! It was also Delaney's first trip to a zoo. All three girls LOVED it. Julia and Charlotte said their favorite part was the sea lion show. I think Jess and I agree completely. Julia also loved loved loved the elephants and anyone that knows her isn't really surprised. Other than the sea lion show Charlottes favorite was the otters. Delaney was not a fan of the stroller but a definite fan of the Ergo. I guess the stroller came in handy carrying our water bottles, lunch, and diaper bag. We are definitely going to have to take Gramme to the zoo this summer!! We got to see two rhinos fighting, a giraffe chasing a few zebras, and a barking sea lion. It was a great time. We are going to try to go once a week depending on activities and weather!

**some pictures repeated in the last two slide shows but seriously people it was 130 pictures I had to sort through. just enough them a second time. :) **
