Delaney goes to the hospital

Sick baby sleeping before the hospital

Two bugs bunny bandaids from the IV and blood draw...and that's just on that arm :(

Today Delaney wasn't feeling very good...nothing major this morning but it got worse as the day went on. Last night she slept 8 hours straight and although that was nice for us it was a sign of her not feeling well. Then she started having diarrhea this morning but not too bad. She refused her 1:00 feeding. She refused her 4:00 feeding. At 4:15 she had a blow out diarrhea diaper. At 4:30 she vomitted up the little bit of milk she ate at 4. At 4:45 she threw up again. She was really lethargic all day. When she refused her 7:00 feeding we made the decision to take her to the ER once Jess got home from work. We made it there by 9:15. She had three more diarrhea diapers at the hospital. They started an IV. They drew blood two different times. She was diagnosed with Rotavirus which is a stomach bug that causes lots of diarrhea, vomitting, and the resulting dehydration. It's not normally a severe problem...except in babies under 6 weeks old. They sent us home with strict instructions to feed OFTEN to keep the dehydration at bay. 1oz every hour has to make it in and stay in. It's going to be a long road, but Jess called in to work and will be home tomorrow so we can take shifts. If her temp gets above 100.5 again or she has less than 3 wet diapers in a 24hr period or is still lethargic for 24hrs we have to take her back in for a spinal tap and urine sample to check for a bacteria infection (such as meningistis). Please pray for our sweet little girl...

Oh, poor sweet girl and poor sweet Mamas! I can totally feel for you: Clark was put in the hospital at 5 weeks with meningitis...but he's fine and a total stinker these days. I'll be thinking about you all!
